We take pride in delivering a quality service - helping our clients reach the best solution for their project then supplying beautifully made drapes or printed textiles to order. Our regular clients include the National Theatre, the RSC, Glyndebourne Opera, English National Opera, the Royal Opera House and many leading West End producers. Image Fabrication produces printed banners for Sotheby's and many graphic design companies.
All of our curtains, backcloths and printed goods are made to order and we often have very short lead times from when the client places the order to when the goods are required to be despatched As a result work is often fast paced and pressurised, whilst maintaining our high quality service and attention to detail.
The role of the curtain maker will encompass the following areas:
Liasing with the workshop supervisor to ensure the curtains are made in the correct order.
Finding and measuring the fabric required for each job and making up the drapery according to the instructions on the job sheets.
Notifying the workshop supervisor that the curtains are ready to be inspected prior to despatch.
Packaging the curtains carefully, ready for our courier to collect at the end of the day.
We regularly manufacture unique designs and our sewing team are often required to help solve problems that may occur when making up the drapery. Numeracy skills, spatial awareness and creativity are important qualities to bring to this position.
The role is physically demanding, due to the size and weight of the drapery being made.
The curtain maker will also be required to help our Print department load rolls of paper and fabric on to our printing and heat pressing equipment.
Experience of industrial sewing machines and overlockers would be an advantage, although some specific training will be given.
